Presentation   2019   September

September

At Foliotek, we work hard to provide the best assessment and portfolio software possible.  To do that, we make changes every week.  Sometimes we fix things that don't work, other times we release new features to improve your experience.  Below you will find a description of the changes we have made this month.

9.30.2019

What's new

We released some new features and upgrades this week:

  • Image files in the Presentation Files area now show a thumbnail of the image as the file icon.  This will make it easier to see what image it is, if the name isn't very specific.

What we fixed

These issues were fixed this past week:

  • If a user attempted to create a new Presentation portfolio based off of an Assessment portfolio, the pages of the Assessment portfolio were not being pulled in.
  • Due to a Chrome issue, the public view of a community had some visual imperfections.
  • If an administrator gave admin permissions to a faculty member to manage evaluations, it did not give them the proper permissions.

What we're working on

Watch for these items to be released in the next few weeks:

  • Nothing close enough to mention at this time.

What's new

We released some new features and upgrades this week:

  • Nothing new this week.

What we fixed

These issues were fixed this past week:

  • Some students were having an issue completing the account creation process when coming to Foliotek from a course management system if there had been a problem with their initial account creation.
  • Faculty members who had been given administrative permissions to manage forms for a specific program and group were inadvertently able to see forms for other programs.
  • If an instructor came to Foliotek from a course management system, they would receive an error message the first time as their Foliotek account was being created.  The second time they attempted to go to Foliotek they would be taken directly into their account.
  • A few faculty members had been mistakenly downgraded to a basic Presentation account and lost access to their faculty accounts.  Access was restored to these accounts and a change was made to prevent this from happening in the future.
  • A few more tweaks were made to some of the community moderator reports in Foliotek Presentation.
  • The Comparative Analysis report was having issues when attempting to compile large amounts of data, it has been optimized and generates more efficiently now.

What we're working on

Watch for these items to be released in the next few weeks:

  • Very soon, image files in the Presentation Files area will show a thumbnail of the image as the file icon.  This will make it easier to see what image it is, if the name isn't very specific.

What's new

We released some new features and upgrades this week:

  • The reports available to community moderators have been re-styled to display more uniform HTML and exported reports and column sorting.

Presentation Report Changes

What we fixed

These issues were fixed this past week:

  • There was an error for some administrators when attempting to filter the Portfolio Form report by academic term.
  • Some faculty members may have experienced an error when trying to access their course evaluations.
  • The Scoring Guide report was not properly pulling the students' external user IDs into the exported report.

What we're working on

Watch for these items to be released in the next few weeks:

  • Nothing close enough to mention.

9.9.2019

What's new

We released some new features and upgrades this week:

  • An update was made to the Scoring Guide report.  It will now allow grouping of data based on courses in Foliotek.  This option is available if Competency-Based Assessments and/or Course-Based Evaluations are being used.
  • We made some improvements to our LTI system.  Foliotek should now better handle students who view or work in an existing course after the academic term has changed.

What we fixed

These issues were fixed this past week:

  • We corrected an issue where some student logins were being counted twice in the database.  The login numbers on reports have been updated to reflect the actual number of student logins.
  • The Portfolio Form report was showing an error if administrators attempted to run the report without applying a date filter.
  • For administrators who were trying to create Portfolio-Integrated Evaluations, the header text would not reflect the current portfolio being used to create the evaluation.  The correct scoring guides were being shown and the evaluations were correctly created, the page header just showed the wrong portfolio.
  • Administrators who were adding students to courses may have received an error in that process.  Despite the error, the students were added to the course(s) correctly.

What we're working on

Watch for these items to be released in the next few weeks:

  • Nothing close enough to mention.

9.3.2019

What's new

We released some new features and upgrades this week:

  • The Content Template dropdown list used when creating a new Presentation portfolio was very slow.  This dropdown menu was optimized and now loads and opens much faster.

What we fixed

These issues were fixed this past week:

  • We corrected some visual errors on the Expired user page that is displayed when a user logs into Foliotek after their account has expired.
  • When editing a Presentation portfolio, if a user duplicated a page, the URL for any copies of the page was the same.  This made subsequent page copies invisible in the published version of the portfolio.
  • The Dynamic Configurable Report was broken.
  • Users who had files stored in folders in the Presentation Files area couldn't access those files.  The folders wouldn't open.
  • The option to download files in the Presentation Files area was not exporting the files.
  • The Student Activity report was taking a long time to load for institutions that had a large number of users in Foliotek.

What we're working on

Watch for these items to be released in the next few weeks:

  • Nothing to report right now.
