Scoring Guides
What is the purpose of a scoring guide?
The purpose of a scoring guide is to determine what will be assessed and how it will be assessed. The scoring guide will determine what the evaluation pages will look like; each evaluation page will be used to score a unit. Each unit will assess a Standard, Portfolio Element, or Portfolio Section. A scoring guide can contain any combination of units for scoring. Thus, a scoring guide can combine philosophies on how to assess portfolios. When an evaluator starts to assess a Portfolio, he/she will see a page which lists all of the units to be scored. The evaluator will click on the name of each unit to see its corresponding evaluation page. The purpose of the scoring guide is to define the units for scoring as well as the method(s) for scoring them.
