Scoring Guides
How do I add units based on standards to my scoring guide?
If you are adding unit(s) to a scoring guide that has already been created, you will need to click on Scoring Guides within the Assessment menu then click on the name of the scoring guide. If you are adding units to a scoring guide that you have just created, you will already be on the right screen.
Follow these steps to add units based on standards:
- Click +Add Unit
- Leave the radio button selected next to Score Standard(s) and click Next
- Use the drop down menu to select the Standards list upon which you wish to base your unit(s)
- Click on the check boxes next to each standard for which you wish to add a unit
- Click Next
- Use the list box to select an existing set of performance levels and click on Next OR
- Click on the radio button next to Create new performance levels
- IF you chose to create your own performance levels, type your first performance level in the Level 1 text box. Continue to type in the next boxes as more will appear as you continue to add another Performance level. Repeat this process as many times as necessary to create all of your performance levels
- Click Next
- If desired, type in the evidences for each performance level in the appropriate text boxes (Note: if your evidences are the same for all of the units you are adding, you can click Copy to all to use the same evidences for the performance levels on every unit)
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Next
- Select how performance levels and points will be chosen for each standard by clicking on the radio button next to the appropriate statement
- IF you chose, "Evaluators choose levels with radio buttons, no points are assigned," SKIP to step 18 after clicking Next
- IF you chose, "Evaluators choose levels with radio buttons, points automatically assigned by level," click Next, then define the point values for each performance level for each unit (Note: You can use the Copy to all link if your point values are the same for all units) and click Next
- IF you chose, "Evaluators enter points into a text box, levels assigned automatically" click Next and then enter the point range for each performance level for each unit (Note: You can use the Copy to all link if your point values are the same for all units) and click Next
- IF you chose, "Points are a sum of expectation scores," click Next, then type in the point range for each performance level for each unit (Note: You can use the Copy to all link if your point values are the same for all Units), click Next
- IF you chose "Points are a sum of expectation scores," Select which performance indicators will be used as expectations OR click on the radio button next to Include new Expectations, and click Next, then type in your expectations and click Next
- IF you did NOT choose, "Points are a sum of expectation scores," OR you skipped to here from step 13, click on the radio button which indicates what expectations you would like to include with the standards (IF you choose not to include expectations, then you are done with the unit adding process)
- IF you choose to, "include the standard's performance indicators as expectations," then click on the check boxes next to the performance indicators you wish to use as expectations and click Next
- IF you chose to, "include new expectations," then type in the expectations for each unit and click Next
- Select the performance levels for your expectations using the list box OR click the radio button next to Create new performance levels, click Next then type the new performance levels
- If desired, type in the evidences for each expectation's performance levels (Note: use Copy to all link if the Evidences are the same for all Expectations) and click Next
- Click the radio button next to the appropriate statement for how performance levels and points will be chosen for each expectation (IF you choose not to assign points, you are done with the unit adding process)
- IF you chose, "Evaluators choose levels with radio buttons, points automatically assigned by level," click Next then define the point value for each performance level for each Expectation for each unit (Use Copy to all if they are the same for all Expectations), scroll to the bottom and click Finish
- IF you chose "Evaluators enter points into a text box, levels assigned automatically," click Next and define the point ranges for each expectation for each unit (Use the copy to all link if the ranges are the same for each expectation for each Unit), scroll to the bottom and click Finish
