Definitions
Assessment area
Screen which apppears after clicking on the Assessment link. This is where
you manage your Assessment
portfolio
Assessment menu
Menu on the left side of the screen when the Assessment link is clicked; it contains
the Sections of your portfolio and two other options for viewing it
(by topic or by standard); links to tools are also found here
(Evaluations, Resources, Program Planner, and Sharing)
Assessment portfolio
Any portfolio which is being evaluated as part of a program
Assessment link
Link located at top of the screen which links to the home page of
Assessment area. The
organizational logo in the top-left corner links to the home page
of the Assessment area as well
Courses area
The screen which appears when the Courses link (located in the
upper right corner) is clicked; this area is used to add and manage
courses if your institution has chosen to use this feature.
NOTE: This option is only visible if your organization has
chosen to enable it

Link from within the Systems menu which links to the Courses
area
Courses menu
Menu on the left side of the screen after clicking on the Courses
link; it contains links to view and manage course details,
resources, and assignments
Default settings
How the system is set to perform a function before the user makes
any changes
Dropdown menu
Text box which has an arrow pointing down on the right side;
clicking on the arrow will display choices for the box's text
Elements
The different parts of each portfolio section
Evaluations
Scheduled or student-submission-driven assessments of your
portfolio
Export
Function of Foliotek that allows downloading of a portfolio to a
disc or hard drive
Files menu
Menu on the left-side of the screen when viewing the Files storagte area; it displays a
Storage meter and a link to learn how to better manage your storage
space
Files storage area
Area displayed when the user clicks on the Files tab; contains all files uploaded to an
account
Files button
Button at the top of the page which links to the Files storage area
Foliotek menu
Tabs at the top of the page which includes tabs for Files,
Courses, Help, Chat, Messages, Profile, and Sign Out (Messages,
Profile, and Sign Out are located on a dropdown menu which is
accessed by clicking on your name
Item
The third tier of Foliotek's portfolio structure; refers to the
files, forms, and journals contained within a portfolio element
Menu
A portion of the screen with links to various screens and
functions
Messages center
Area where one can send and receive messages from peers, faculty,
and administrators
Messages menu
Menu on the left side of the screen when the Messages tab is
clicked; offers links to New Message, Inbox, and Sent Messages.
Messages button
Button on the dropdown menu accessed by clicking on your
name at the top-right corner of the page. This button
opens your Messages inbox
Opening screen
The first screen viewed when you log in to Foliotek. This is often
referred to as the Assessment home page. Clicking on the Assessment link or your organization's
logo (at top of screen) will return you to the opening screen
Presentation
Where personal Presentation portfolios are built, listed, exported
and previewed; accessed by clicking on the Presentation tab in the
top-right corner of the screen
Presentation menu
The menu which is displayed after clicking on the Presentation
button. This menu has options for Identity Card, ePortfolios,
Communities, and Dashboard. If you are unsure which option to
choose, click Dashboard
Presentation portfolio
A personal website which can be populated with many diffferent
kinds of content ans can be shared in a variety of ways, both
public and private

Tab at the top-right corner of the page that opens the Presentation menu
Proficiency benchmarks
Any set of standards, goals, or objectives that your program has
set as the requirements which need to be met by your portfolio
Profile area
Page where you can edit your Profile information; accessed by
clicking on your name in the top-right corner of the page
and then selecting the Profile option fromt he dropdown menu
Profile link
Link in the upper-right corner that leads to the Profile area
Profile menu
Menu on the left side of the screen after clicking on the Profile
link; contains links to manage personal, contact, program, and
employment information
Program planner
Tool from within the Assessment menu that links to an area in
which a course sequence can be planned; your program may choose not
to use this feature
Resources
Link on left side menu to files or websites that your portfolio
administrator or course instructor has determined would be
helpful
Sections
The main components of work collected by your program; viewable
from within the Assessment menu (each Section will contain its own
element(s))
Standards
Proficiency benchmarks used by your program; your program may
refer to them as objectives, goals, or some other term with the
same basic meaning
Storage meter
The area within the Files menu that displays the percentage of
storage space currently being used; it also provides a link to
manage your file storage
Systems menu
Located on the upper right side of the screen; contains links to
Courses, Profile, Sign-Out, and Help
Tab
A rectangular shaped link, usually found at the top of the
page
Template
The visual style of a Presentation portfolio
Tools
Located at the bottom of the Assessment menu; links to useful
functions of Foliotek. This menu can include things such as
Evaluations, Resources, Program Planner, Sharing, etc.)
